Learning Outcomes

  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of fundamental business concepts, including management, marketing, accounting, finance, human resource management, and legal aspects, through coursework and practical applications.
  • Develop skills in planning, launching, and operating a business, employing design thinking, and utilizing the business model canvas to conceptualize and present business ideas for evaluation. Apply these skills in the potential launch of a student enterprise.
  • Gain proficiency in marketing concepts, product planning, selling, promotion, and advertising, while exploring the Marketing Mix (Product, Place, Promotion, Price) through individual and team projects.
  • Learn and apply employability skills in Business Operations 1 and 2, including teamwork, communication, leadership, and professional skills, while starting, operating, and scaling a THS student business, such as the SpiritBox vending machine.
  • Engage in expanded leadership opportunities through DECA participation in Marketing Applications: DECA Leadership Business A/B and apply skills learned in previous business classes to plan, prepare, and execute individual DECA projects.
  • Apply management skills and supervise the operation of a THS student enterprise in Independent Studies: Business and Management A/B, with the potential to earn College Now credit through LCC for demonstrating proficiency.
  • Develop project-based learning skills in Leadership/Projects – Business, planning, preparing, and executing individual projects to support individual learning and development.
  • Obtain practical work experience in a business-related field through Work Experience: Business Management, applying classroom skills to on-the-job situations and earning credit for successful completion of the program.
  • Apply critical thinking skills to business scenarios, problem-solving situations, and individual projects, fostering innovation, collaboration, connection, and curiosity.
  • Prepare for post-secondary education and future careers in business and management through a combination of classroom learning, practical experience, and leadership opportunities, aligning with real-world relevance in the field.

Possibilities After Graduation

Classes in the pathway include: Introduction to Business, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Business Operations, Leadership Projects Business, Independent Studies Business Management, and DECA.

Career possibilities include: Business Owner, Accountant, Marketing Assistant, General Manager, Project Manager. 

Annual Salary Range: $48,000 - $100,000+
