85 to Drive: Parking Updates for the 2026-2027 School Year

 

Thurston High School is introducing updated parking expectations for next school year centered around our new initiative: “85 to Drive.” This program is designed to encourage strong attendance while providing students with access to on-campus parking.

Attendance Requirement

• All students must maintain 85% attendance or higher to be eligible to park on campus. Attendance will be reviewed quarterly to ensure continued eligibility.

Parking Access

• Students who meet the attendance requirement and purchase a parking pass may park in the North and South lots. Please note that assigned parking spaces will no longer be offered—all parking will be first come, first served for eligible students with a valid pass.

If Attendance Falls Below 85%

• Students who do not meet the attendance requirement will have two options:
• Be placed on a waitlist and park off campus until eligibility and space become available
• Enter into an attendance contract and park in the Front Lot only.

Important Reminder

• Students who park on campus without meeting these expectations or without proper authorization may be subject to having their vehicle towed at the owner's expense.

Parking Reservation Timeline

• Upcoming Seniors: May 4 - May 15
• Upcoming Juniors: May 18 - May 29
• During their assigned window, students will select a preferred parking lot. Please note that selecting a lot does not guarantee parking access until attendance eligibility is confirmed.

Parking Pass

• Once eligibility is verified, students must pay a $30 parking permit fee to access their designated lot. Parking passes are non-refundable once issued. Students who lose eligibility will have parking privileges revoked. If eligibility is regained, parking access can be reinstated at no extra fee, space permitting

Additional Opportunities

• Students will have the opportunity to improve attendance throughout the month of May 2026 to qualify for parking at the start of the next school year
• "Second Chance Sales" will take place from early June through the end of the current school year
